Frequently Asked Questions

Letters are defined as A-Z (uppercase) and a-z (lowercase) in the English alphabet. The tool separately counts uppercase and lowercase letters to give you a complete breakdown.
Special characters are any characters that are not letters, digits, spaces, or common punctuation marks. This includes symbols like @, #, $, %, &, *, emoji, and other Unicode characters.
Line breaks (newline characters) are counted separately from spaces. They appear in the "Line breaks" count. Line breaks are not included in the "spaces" count or "without spaces" calculation.
The tool recognizes common punctuation including periods, commas, semicolons, colons, exclamation marks, question marks, quotes (single and double), parentheses, brackets, braces, hyphens, and dashes.
